Marcus was raised in the small town of Prosper, Texas. Marcus accepted an offer to play football at Princeton University, where he played all four years. He received his A.B. in Religion, writing his thesis on a historical analysis of American religious and cultural trends in the 20th and 21st Century.
After Princeton, Marcus began his career in New York, working as a fixed income analyst for MarketAxess, an international financial technology company that operates an electronic trading platform for the institutional credit markets. He transitioned through the High Yield, Investment Grade, and Municipal Bond Desks. Marcus then moved on to Vida Capital, a multi-billion dollar alternative asset manager in Austin, Texas. At Vida, Marcus focused specifically on Vida’s private equity and hedge fund structures. Marcus’ focus at Vida was both internal and external, serving as a member of the team that met with large institutional and private investors for the firm’s flagship hedge fund and emerging closed-end fund.
Marcus was also responsible for due diligence and investment monitoring, as well as market and industry research. Marcus was the youngest member of the advisory committee of Vida’s flagship closed-end fund.
After Vida, Marcus was recruited to take over the Clubhouse Investment Club, a venture group of celebrities and athletes, looking to co-invest with premier venture firms. There, he developed relationships with venture funds across the country, restructured the Club’s investment strategy, and successfully vetted deals and deployed capital that matched the mandate of the Clubhouse.
Marcus focuses on health, wellness, and software investments for the firm. He serves on the advisory board of Trey Athletes, is an Officer for the Princeton Club of Austin, and was recently selected as one of the youngest executives to the prestigious Dallas CEO 500 for 2020.
